I had an outstanding experience with Joseph Kaufman & Associates. My vehicle was a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport that I purchased brand-new. From the start, I dealt with an excessive number of recalls that made ownership a constant frustration. After one too many issues, I decided to reach out and see what my options were. I'm so glad I did. Joseph Kaufman & Associates handled everything professionally and efficiently. In the end, I received the full price of my vehicle plus additional compensation -- far more than I expected. I've already moved on and purchased a new car, which I couldn't have done without their help.

Negotiating WIZARD!!! This review cannot began to say how PRICELESS Joe's services are when having a Lemon for a car. We contacted Car company Dodge Stellantis about buy back of Dodge Hornet due to multiple service repairs involving computer windowsield sensors, brakes, batteries etc. They refused to purchase car back. We were advised by friends to contact Joe Kaufman, "He will help you!" We contacted Joe and staff via email and they promptly returned information on how to proceed. Joe and his team provided clear and precise instructions on all stages of the proceedings. They are so easy to work with from afar- the communication was prompt with staff and Joe. Joe also helped us emotionally by taking calls and keeping us moving forward when it was pretty frustrating dealing with all the repairs. Joe was able to mediate a FANTASTIC settlement from FCA. We did not have to go to court due to Joe's Negotiating skills. We cannot thank him and his staff enough on the priceless services and assistance. We received fantastic and fair settlement!! I have employed law firms several times in the past for various purposes. Never have I received such a high level of service as I have with Joseph Kaufman. Joe communicated personally with me at every stage of the Lemon Law legal process, explaining it thoroughly and letting me know what to expect. Joe expertly questioned the manufacturer's representatives in deposition and caused them to make a key admission in my case that led to a great settlement. I was once represented by a highly prestigious law firm in a wrongful termination case where the stakes were much higher. Compared with this firm, I believe Joe's firm put more effort and professionalism into my case and were truly concerned about my situation. I couldn't have asked for better representation!

After hitting a dead end with GM, who showed zero interest in helping me with my vehicle issues, I turned to Joseph Kaufman & Associates. From start to finish, the team handled every detail--all I had to do was provide the necessary documentation. They even went the extra mile by accompanying me to the dealership for the final vehicle surrender. Although the process was lengthy, I was kept informed every step of the way. Ultimately, I received a settlement nearly 50% higher than my original purchase price. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. A huge thank you to Maria and Melissa for their incredible support!

I had an outstanding experience with Joseph Kaufman & Associates. My vehicle was a 2020 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased brand-new and drove for 5 years and about 50,000 miles. I had actually requested a lemon buyback two years into ownership due to numerous issues, but the automaker refused. After one final major issue arose, I decided to contact Joseph Kaufman & Associates -- and I'm so glad I did. They took my case right away, and Christopher Hunt was the attorney assigned to me. Chris explained everything thoroughly at every step and always made sure I understood the process. His professionalism, patience, and attention to detail really stood out. The settlement Chris was able to secure for me was far beyond anything I could have imagined. After years of frustration with my Jeep, Joseph Kaufman & Associates finally brought me relief. I highly recommend them to anyone dealing with a lemon law issue -- they exceeded all my expectations.

GM’s 6.2-Liter V8 Problems Aren’t Going Away

General Motors’ troubled 6.2-liter V8 is facing another round of scrutiny, and this time federal investigators are looking beyond the original recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has expanded its investigation into GM vehicles equipped with the L87 6.2-liter V8 after receiving reports of catastrophic engine failures even after owners had completed the manufacturer’s recall repair. The investigation now covers nearly 1 million vehicles, including several of GM’s most popular trucks and full-size SUVs.

The development raises an important question: Was the original recall remedy enough to solve the problem?

Engine Failures Continue After the Recall Repair

GM recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles in 2025 after identifying manufacturing and quality issues that could cause serious internal engine damage. The recall involved L87 engines produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024.

The remedy was designed to address the potential for engine failure. Dealers were instructed to inspect affected engines, replace engines that showed certain problems, and perform an oil-related repair on engines that passed inspection.

That repair included switching from 0W-20 oil to 0W-40, along with replacing the oil filter and oil-fill cap.

Unfortunately, reports of failures did not stop.

According to information reviewed by federal investigators, NHTSA has received 499 complaints involving L87 engines that failed after the recall remedy was performed. Of those, 473 involved vehicles that received the oil-related repair, while another 26 involved vehicles that had received replacement engines.

GM’s own records reportedly show an even larger number of complaints, with nearly 7,000 reports involving engines that failed after the supposed fix.

The Investigation Is Now Looking at Newer Engines

One of the most significant developments is that investigators are no longer limiting their attention to the engines covered by the original recall.

The initial recall focused on engines manufactured through May 31, 2024. NHTSA is now examining reports involving L87 engines produced after that date.

That could potentially bring certain 2025 and 2026 vehicles into the investigation.

The vehicles equipped with the L87 include popular models such as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.

This does not mean that every newer vehicle equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 is defective or that all of these vehicles have been recalled. Rather, federal investigators are trying to determine whether the same underlying problem may exist outside the production period originally identified by GM.

Why the Oil Change Is Under Scrutiny

The switch to thicker 0W-40 oil was one of the most noticeable parts of GM’s original remedy.

But continuing failures raise questions about whether an oil change can adequately address the underlying mechanical problems.

The original investigation identified issues involving components such as connecting rods and crankshafts. Investigators also identified concerns involving oil passages and manufacturing tolerances.

If an engine suffers a catastrophic mechanical failure because of an underlying manufacturing defect, changing the oil obviously cannot repair damaged internal components.

That is why the reports involving engines that failed after receiving the remedy are particularly important to federal investigators.

NHTSA now has to determine whether these failures are related to the same defect identified in the original recall, whether the remedy was sufficient, and whether additional vehicles should be included.

What GM Owners Should Know

For owners of GM vehicles with the 6.2-liter L87 V8, the latest development does not automatically mean another recall has been issued.

At this point, the federal government is investigating the situation.

Owners who have experienced engine problems should keep detailed records of repairs, dealership visits, warning lights, diagnostic results, towing expenses and any engine replacement or recall work performed on the vehicle.

It is also important to determine whether the vehicle was included in the original recall and whether the recall remedy was actually completed.

Owners experiencing repeated engine problems should not assume that a previous repair necessarily means the issue has been permanently resolved.

A Bigger Problem for GM?

The latest investigation puts GM in a difficult position.

The original recall was intended to address a specific population of L87 engines. Now, regulators are examining failures that occurred after the repair and reports involving engines outside the original manufacturing window.

That potentially changes the scope of the problem considerably.

If NHTSA ultimately determines that GM’s existing remedy does not adequately prevent engine failures, the automaker could face additional regulatory action. That could include changes to the repair procedure, an expanded recall population, or other measures designed to protect affected owners.

For now, however, no such additional recall has been announced.

The Bottom Line

GM’s 6.2-liter V8 controversy is no longer simply about a recall involving a specific batch of engines.

The bigger question is whether the original remedy actually solved the problem.

With hundreds of post-repair failures reported to NHTSA, thousands more complaints recorded by GM, and investigators now examining engines outside the original recall population, the issue appears to be expanding rather than fading away.

For owners of Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade models equipped with the 6.2-liter L87, the investigation will be worth watching closely.

The next phase of NHTSA’s investigation could ultimately determine whether GM’s original recall was sufficient—or whether a much larger response will be necessary.
