Ford Motors Company is recalling 42,784 2021 – 2023 Ford Mach-E models equipped with a rear-wheel drive drivetrain because their rear differential pinion shaft might bend, break or fracture, causing vehicles to lose power while driving or move on their own while parked.
If this problem occurs, drivers might also notice a Malfunction Indicator Light on their instrument panel.
As of June 2026, 62 warranty claims have been filed but there has been no report of related accidents or injuries.
Ford is currently working on a fix and, on July 14th, will send letters warning owners about the issue. The recall # is 26S50.
Ford drivers can also call the manufacturers’ custom service at 866-436-7332 or check the NHTSA website with their VIN number to find out if there are any pending recalls.
