JD Power US Initial Quality Study 2025

J.D. Power, the leading American data analytics and consumer intelligence company, has just released its highly anticipated 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS). This study ranks vehicle brands based on the average number of problems reported per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership.

In the IQS, a lower PP100 score indicates higher quality and better owner satisfaction, while a higher score reflects more problems and lower satisfaction.

Key findings from the 2025 study:

The most frequently reported issues involved electric and premium vehicles, particularly with infotainment systems and exterior components.

JD Power 2025 IQSTop performers:
Lexus: 166 PP100
Nissan: 169 PP100
Hyundai: 173 PP100

Brands with the most reported problems:
Audi: 269 PP100
Volvo: 258 PP100
Infiniti: 242 PP100

Rivian (274 PP100) and Tesla (200 PP100) also had relatively poor results but were excluded from the final rankings for not meeting all study criteria.
