General Motors is recalling more than 217,000 Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac vehicles because of an oil leak that could cause them to stop or catch fire.
The recall affects some of the following models:
- 2018 to 2020 Chevy Equinox, Traverse and GMC Terrain
- 2018 Chevy Malibu
- 2018 and 2019 Chevy Cruze and Buick Lacrosse
- 2019 to 2020 Buick Encore, Enclave, Cadillac XT4, GMC Acadia, Chevy Blazer
- 2020 Cadillac XT6
According to GM documents, two bolts may be missing from the stop-start mechanism, allowing transmission oil to leak. While the manufacturer claims it has not received any report of accident or fire so far, those vehicles should be brought in for inspection at a GM local dealership as soon as possible. If missing, the bolts will be replaced free of charge.
This recall starts on December 14th, 2020.
