Joseph Kaufman & Associates has seen an increase in lemon law cases involving bearing failure engine defects in GM vehicles, and now GM has issued a massive recall and issued a stop-sale order because of this motor vehicle safety defect. GM is recalling 877,000 Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC trucks because their 6.2-liter V8 engines may have been manufactured with a safety defect that causes engine failure.
The models affected by this recall include the following 2021 – 2024 SUVs and pickup trucks:
– Cadillac Escalade
– Cadillac Escalade ESV
– Chevrolet Silverado 1500
– Chevrolet Suburban
– Chevrolet Tahoe
– GMC Sierra 1500
– GMC Yukon
– GMC Yukon XL
NHTSA has been investigating 39 reports of related engine issues since January, including failures on highways, loss of propulsion, and engine damage. but no accident has been reported so far. The safety defect is sever enough to warrant the issuance of a stop-sale order, which means the vehicles are too dangerous to sell with the engine defect left unrepaired.
GM will start notifying owners and lessees of these vehicles by June 9, 2025. You can also call Cadillac, Chevy or GMC customer service and check the NHTSA website with your VIN number to find out if there are any pending recalls. Dealerships will inspect the recalled SUV’s and trucks and either repair or replace the engine as needed.
