Consumers have a right to expect new vehicles to operate without substantial defects that impair the vehicle’s use, value or safety.  Consumers have a right to have these defects repaired in a reasonable time.  If a vehicle has substantial defects that impair use, value or safety, and those defects have not been repaired in a reasonable number of attempts, lemon law rights mean that a car company has to repurchase or replace that lemon.  Lemon law rights were created to protect consumers and subsequent purchasers by removing unsafe and defective vehicles from the road.
