Ford Motors Company is recalling over 1,000,000 2021 – 2025 Ford and Lincoln vehicles models because a software issue affecting SYNC 4 system might cause rear cameras to malfunction while in reverse, increasing the risk of accident.
The models affected by this recall include:
– Ford Bronco (2021)
– Ford Edge (2021)
– Ford Escape (2023)
– Ford Expedition (2022)
– Ford F-150 (2021-2023)
– Ford Mustang (2024)
– Ford Mustang Mach-E (2021)
– Ford Ranger (2024)
– Ford Transit (2022 and 2025)
– Lincoln Corsair (2023)
– Lincoln Nautilus (2021)
– Lincoln Navigator (2022)
37 related complaints were received by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so far, and only one minor accident was reported, without injury.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail between June 16 and June 20, 2025. The good news is that the issue will be fixed remotely with a software update (OTA), so it won’t be needed to bring vehicles to a dealership.
While no crash or injuries have been reported so far, this problem should be handled as soon as possible as it could prevent other drivers to see the faulty vehicles at night.
Ford and Lincoln drivers can also call the manufacturers’ customer service or check the NHTSA website with their VIN number to find out if there are any pending recalls.
